MEET SERENA
District 2: North and Northeast Portland
Multnomah County is at a crossroads. Too many of us have lost confidence that local government can deliver on the basics, and we're right to demand better. I'm running for County Commissioner because North and Northeast Portland deserve a Board that governs effectively, with heart and strategy.
I've done this work from every side. I served two terms as a county commissioner, the youngest woman and the first Latina elected to this Board. I later ran the day-to-day operations of Multnomah County's $4 billion government as its Chief Operating Officer. I'm bringing that inside operational knowledge back to the policy arena to give North and Northeast Portland a government that actually works: one that gets vulnerable neighbors the integrated shelter, treatment and housing to get them the stability they need, gives every child a real start through Preschool for All, and one that backs the investment that produces family-wage jobs in neighborhoods that are too often left out.
My test for county government is simple. Everyone should feel the results, especially the people hardest to reach. That is the standard I will bring to the Board, and the work I am excited to get back to.
